Recovery Specialist (2nd & 3rd Shift)

The Recovery Specialist is designed to provide help and support in the recovery of the residents of The Link House. This person will assist in setting goals and helping to empower residents by modeling behavior so they may be better equipped to deal with everyday life situations.

The Recovery Specialist reports directly to the Director of Men’s Services

Schedule: This person will work fours shifts per week on a combination of second and third shifts (3PM-11PM, and 11PM-7AM respectively)

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and provide support and encouragement, on site supervision to deal with any problems or emergencies that may arise in the evenings
  • Supervise urine screens and administer Breathalyzer when necessary
  • Keep a daily shift log of activities and document each entry in the appropriate format
  • If there is an incident; log that it occurred, but put the details in an incident report and turn it in to the Case Manager and Program Director
  • Monitor residents enforcing house rules, rules may not be changed for any reason
  • Do not lie down on the sofa with blanket and pillow to sleep during shift
  • Do not leave during your shift until your relief person has arrived
  • Check chores and make sure job is done to satisfaction then record results
  • Make sure the entranceway and any other safety hazard is clear and safe for the residents
  • Work closely with the Clinical Supervisor and Program Director to address any problems that may arise concerning the residents or safety of the facility
  • Any other duties assigned by management

Supervisory / Management: No direct supervisory responsibilities of staff.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A working knowledge of addiction and recovery

  • Empathy and compassion for residents
  • High school diploma or equivalent and some experience in human services or addition services.
  • At the discretion of the Link House Executive Director, qualifying criteria may be waived in whole or part where and when deemed appropriate.

Environment and Physical Requirements

  • This position operates in a residential setting.
  • Regularly required to sit, walk and stand
  • Regularly required to talk or hear, both in person and by telephone;
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.
