Sandra Akers

Biography

Ms. Akers joined the Link House Board in November of 2025.  She retired from Lahey Health in 2021 where she served as the Clinical Administrator for the High Risk Intervention Team.  In this role, she developed and oversaw an addiction treatment team which provided both inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department services.  Under her direction, Lahey Health received numerous grants for addiction treatment services including a grant for initiating MAT in the Emergency Department.

    Prior to joining Lahey Health, Ms. Akers served as CEO of Tewksbury Hospital for 6 years and Bureau Director for Public Health Hospitals for 4.  During her years with Tewksbury and DPH, she was known for her leadership in developing innovative programs to meet the needs of underserved patient populations.

     Ms. Akers earned her BS in Nursing from Boston College and her Masters in Nursing from Salem State University.  Since retiring, Sandi has facilitated several women’s retreats supporting recovery.  She is an avid hiker and travels winters in her RV camper.  Sandi is a lifelong resident of Rockport and proud mother of two adult children, Marabah and Michael.
